Ashish Nehra out,Shikar Dhiwan in for Mumbai Indians IPL 2009
February 19, 2009
Ashish Nehra has been replaced by Shikar Dhiwan in the Mumbai Indians cricket team for IPL cricket 2009
Ashish Nehra , did reasonably well for the Mumbai Indians cricket team in the IPL league last season, butthe Mumbai Indians cricket team has decided to replace Ashish Nehra with Shikhar Dhawan, a star batsman in the Delhi Daredevils IPL cricket team
In the first official “transfer” in the IPL cricket league, Shikar Dhiwan moves from the Delhi Daredevils IPL cricket team to the Mumbai Indians IPL cricket team team
Shikhar Dhawan ’s hard hitting capabilities sought by Mumbai Indians IPL cricket franchise
The Mumbai Indians IPL team think-tank obviously feels that batting is an area that needs to be strenghtened and getting Shikar Dhawan transferred from the Delhi Daredevils cricket team is a step in this direction. Currently, the Mumbai Indians cricket team is almost entirely dependent on the heroics of Jayasurya and a Sachin cameo to get huge totals in the IPL T20 cricket league- other imports such as Luke Ronchi did not live up to their expectations for the Mumbai Indians cricket team
The addition of Shikar Dhawan will be a boost to the Mumbai Indians IPL team as Shikar Dhawan proved his skills in T20 cricket in the IPL cricket league last year by scoring four fifties at a strike rate of 115 for the Delhi Daredevils cricket team
Ashish Nehra , the opening bowler for the Mumbai Indians last season, was needed by the Delhi Daredevils IPL cricket team in the absence of Mohammed Asif
The key reason for the transfer of Ashish Nehra from the Mumbai Indians cricket team to the Delhi Daredevils team was that the Delhi Daredevils cricket team needed a quick bowler to replace Mohammed Asif, who has decided not to play IPL cricket in the 2009 IPL season. Ashish Nehra being a fast bowler from Delhi fitted into that role perfectly and the Delhi Daredevils were obviously eager to get him transferred from the Mumbai Indians IPL team , right from the start of the IPL transfer window
Firstly, Ashish Nehra is a local Delhi boy and has played most of his cricket in Delhi. Secondly, Ashish Nehra who has displayed flashes of brilliance for Team India in the past, performed reasonably well for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2008,by grabbing 12 wickets at an average of 29 and an economy rate of 7.76
Zaheer Khan will probably replace Ashish Nehra in the Mumbai IPL cricket team
Zaheer Khan has been in phenomenal form for the Indian cricket team for the last two years, and the Mumbai Indians IPL T20 cricket franchise will probably like to have Zaheer Khan open the bowling rather than Ashish Nehra
