Shaun Pollock may not play for Mumbai Indians in IPL T20 2009?

February 1, 2009

Rumors persist that Shaun Pollock wants to opt out of the Mumbai IPL team for the IPL 2009 cricket season

Shaun PollockShaun Pollock was an incredible player for the Mumbai Indians cricket team in the IPL T20 2008 cricket season. Not only did Shaun Pollock bowl some incredible spells of seam bowling, but he also captained the Mumbai Indians cricket team in the absence of Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh.

Shaun Pollock was nicknamed “Kaka” by the younger players of the Mumbai Indians cricket team and was well liked by the entire Mumbai cricket team

Recent press reports suggest that Shaun Pollock has had enough of cricket and would like to skip the remaining two seasons of his IPL contract

Shaun Pollock was simply “incredible” in the first IPL cricket season for the Mumbai Indians cricket team. The Mumbai IPL team will definitely miss Shaun Pollock in case he decides not to play for the Mumbai Indians cricket team for the IPL 2009 T20 cricket tournament

Another option is for Shaun Pollock to participate in the Mumbai IPL team as a mentor or coach

The Mumbai Indians team simply loved Shaun Pollock and in case Pollock decides to hang up his cricketing boots, the Mumbai IPL team should look to have Shaun Pollock as a bowling mentor for the youngsters in the Mumbai Indians cricket team

With Zaheer Khan, Andrew Nel and Dhaval Kulkarni in the team, the Mumbai Indians are well covered even if Shaun Pollock does not return

Shaun Pollock will surely be missed if he does not return to the Sachin Tendulkar led Mumbai IPL cricket team, but the recent addition of Zaheer Khan through the IPL transfer adds a lot of bite to the Mumbai Indians bowling attack. Zaheer Khan is currently one of the best bowlers in the world today and Zaheer Khan’s presence should compensate in some way for Pollock ‘s possible absence

Dhaval Kulkarni has also been in great form this season for the Mumbai Ranji Trophy cricket team. Dhaval was the leading wicket taker for the Mumbai Ranji Trophy cricket team, and should help in lessening the impact of Pollock ‘s possible absence from the Mumbai Indians cricket team

In summary, fans of the Mumbai Indians cricket team will hope that Shaun Pollock plays in the IPL T20 cricket tournament, but its not the end of the world for Mumbai if Pollock does not play
